Default 2 flashers down

ok, so ive been searching and searching for hours now and can not find any post with my issue. about a week ago my turn signals stopped working but hazards worked. bought a new flasher and bam it worked.... for like 3 days. ive checked the wires under the dash, don't see any melting, or bare wires from something like the E brake rubbing etc. only thing is now my hazards don't work either. ive taken apart the flasher and don't see any thing indicating over heating other then the mechanism inside being pretty warm. can anyone help me figure out why my flasher keeps going.

do the brake lights still work ok.
is there a relay for the brakes, turns, or hazards in the pdc box (beside the battery)
what year is your truck and does it have 1 flasher unit or 2?

brake lights still work, unless they have it labeled something different no there isn't a relay for my brakes, turns or hazards.and my truck is a 2000 with the single flasher($20 each lol) also, I had a buddy use his multimeter to check the location of the flasher, said it showed 13.45 at one port and .06 when he did the hazards, otherwise there was nothing when trying the signals. im not sure how the wiring is for the multiswitch, but doesn't is complete the circuit when the lever is moved for left or right signal?

oh, and not sure if it makes a difference but the high beams and wipers still work.

ok, here's my guess. there's a big wad of wires at tilt steering pivot point, and they like to kink and break there.

remove the knee panel, tilt lever, column covers (long skinny torx), dash bezel (i think). this'll expose the multifunction switch and hazard switch. 01 service manual has a procedure to test the multifunction. but i bet you have a broken turn signal/hazard wire at the tilt.

I will go check this and see what I find. just curious tho, is it possible to the signal portion of the multi switch to go out and everything else still work? or is it one of those things that the whole thing doesn't work?

i don't know. odds are low. a more common failure is the intermittent wiper control that's in that switch. i made the guess based on your not having blinkers or hazards.

with the covers off the column, you can test your wiring and prove where you do or don't have voltage. what year is your truck. download the 01 service manual from the DIY section and see the wiring diagrams in section 8. the multifunction test procedure is in there somewhere.

and by the way, when you remove the column covers, the flasher on/off switch is part of the multifunction switch, and can also be tested.

Do they light up but not blink, if so the fuses that areunder the right side of your dash. The cans in there control the blinking ofblinkers and hazards. Those cans are like 3 bucks a piece to replace.

Unless I'm missing something, Dodge Ram's have no fuses under the right side of the dash. They are located on the left "side" of the dash.

And yes, your 97 has 2 silver flashers (cans as you put it), but the OP has a 2000, it only has one large blue plastic multi purpose flasher.
