Default Fuel Pump Issues?

All,
I have a 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4, auto trans. I replaced the fuel pump a couple of weeks ago and the truck started and ran fine. I went out today and the truck will start, but will idle roughly and then die. I lifted the bed to check the fuel pump and pulled the fuel line off. The fuel dribbles out when the truck is started, but I am not sure the pressure is correct. My truck has the plastic fuel line, so it does not have a gauge fitting that I can apply a fuel gauge to. My question is, should the fuel shoot out more, or is the dribble fine? The volts on the battery are where they should be (12.5 volts) and I have pulled the negative cable off to reset the PCM, turned on the headlights for 30 seconds and tried it again with the same results. Any help or suggestions?

What brand pump did you get? You could probably find some parts at a hardware store to fit in a schrader valve between the fuel line and rail, then test psi.

I would try cleaning the throttle body and idle air control valve first, disconnect the battery first.

Have you also fixed the plenum gasket/pan issue?

I think a later model fuel rail from the junkyard should be interchangable, one with a valve. I don't think anything at the hardware store could be put in there because of the pressure and the gasoline running through it.
Maybe some one could verify the swap of the fuel rail.

Gotta watch the years. They changed the connectors at some point... (think it was 98? might be wrong)

A good fuel psi test kit should have all the needed fittings to perform the test, should just be a inline tee adapter.
