Help!!! Transmission issues
First off quite often i have to put my truck in neutral to start it. Second problem is that it shifts a little rough at half throttle but if i give it the full throttle the transmission seems to disengage and while the rpms stay around 3,000. to get it to shift to the next gear i have to let off the gas and then it shifts. I have just changed all the spark plugs and spark plug wires yesterday. Didn't change the problem.
Yeah. This one may be as easy as a fluid/filter/band adjust, but, I wouldn't hold my breath. If you can't have it down for a couple days, order up a new governor pressure sensor and solenoid, and have them handy as well.
your intermediate band is likely the cause. it is most likely out of adjustment and the little anchor that it presses against as a result of being out of adjustment may have become chipped.
+1, drop the pan, change fluid and filter.
If you loosen up the intermediate band adjustment screw the intermediate band anchor should be accessible enough to replace it if you find a dime sized slightly curved piece of dark gray cast iron inside the pan which would be what would have broken off in the event it was half cocked when force was applied by the intermediate servo which applies the band responsible for engaging second gear.
The band may also be on its way out, however replacing that small part for around 20 bucks, properly adjusting the band, changing the fluid and filter has the potential to work wonders...
