Default 35's with 3 inches of lift? Where do they rub?

So, I've been around long enough to know that the general consensus is that with 3" of lift you should run 33" tires and for 35" tires you want 5" of lift. I've got a 3" lift and am running 305/70R16 tires which is basically a 33. They are on 16x10 wheels and while I'm not sure what the backspacing is they stick out a bit. These rib a little on they plastic wheel liner at full lock, but not much. I feel like these tires look tiny on here though and I've always wanted a bigger tire. Now that I need another set I'm debating a set of 315/75R16s which are basically a 35. For you all running these, where do they rub? I'd it on the plastic lining? Or on the actual metal? How much do you have to cut to make this setup work? I can't decide which size tires to go with. I'm also hesitant on the 35s since I have 4:10 gears and don't want to regear.

35's with 4.10s wouldn't be too bad...... better than with 3.55s at any rate.

Probably rub in the same places as your 33's, just worse. You could trim out the plastic liner, or, remove it completely, I think..... Also wanna watch the front bumper, by the wheel opening...... Bumper might be able to be moved forward a bit for added clearance though.

My 33's just barely rub on the fender liner at full lock. You could likely take out the liners and get some clearance.

Thanks guys. The main spot I'm worried about them rubbing is the pinch weld. I'm thinking I may go ahead and order a set to try though as I've always wanted to try them.

FWIW, I ran a set of 315/75/16 on my stock height offroad edition. No rubbing other then the wrong back spacing on my rims (stock rims).

I have 265/70/17 on my 2wd, minor rubbing at full lock (rub on the plastic inner fender)

I was told I shouldn't go bigger than a 33" tire on my off-road edition Ram... but I talked to guy I met at a gas station who I saw driving an off-road edition with what looked like 35s. He said all he had was a 2" leveling kit and wheels with the right backspacing. He was running 315/70/17s, basically 35's. He did say his truck had a little loss in power at the lower end and worse gas mileage but that he liked the look. I decided to stay with 285/70/17s and I am installing a true 3" lift this Saturday. I got 3" lift coils, sway bar drop brackets, track bar relocation bracket, and a 2" aal in the rear. Pieced it together myself and only paid $350 including shipping! I will net 2" (because of the ORE) up front as well as 2" in the back for a total of 3" in the front as well as the rear. Also I can keep my rake since I load my truck's bed and haul from time to time. I'm posting the pictures here Saturday afternoon and I'd like to hear some opinions!
