Default transmission problems

Hopefully someone can shed some light on my truck problem!
I was headed to work this morning going 65mph when the truck stopped pulling and started to rev up. I got it off the highway and into a parking lot. It will go into reverse and park, and will go into gear and drive but I think it is in the "limp" mode and will not go into 3rd or od. I drove it home on the side roads. I was wondering if the rain/moisture would possibly cause it since it was raining and I had driven thru a shallow puddle about 2 min before this happened? The truck has 205,000 miles on it and has been working fine until now.

Moved this to the correct forum.

Is your check engine lite on? Are there any codes? Sounds like O/D is slipping.... how many miles on the trans?

No trouble lights and haven't had time to check the codes yet.

They can be had dirt cheap at most any parts store. Can check codes while you are there.
