Does the fuel pump run when you first turn on the key? Can you test fuel pressure?

Is there gas in the tank? Fuel gauges aren't always correct.. I learned that yesterday after dropping the tank because I figured my fuel pump was toast, fuel gauge just decided it would be an 1/8 tank off.

A fuel pressure tester is needed to verify pressure.
