Default Oil Pressure problems

I have been searching the forum for a diagnosis, and can not seem to find the same issue. My oil pressure is good at idle right around 40 psi. once i accelerate it rises to 60 -80 I would say. oil level is good, wondering if it is the sending unit?

Well, without confirming with a good known mechanical gauge, I'd say that's pretty normal and pretty damn good at that.

That's what it should do! Mine is the same way and has been since new. Only once did it run low when I ran some 10w30 in summer heat. With over 100k miles, use thicker oil.

Thank you all very much. I just put the Hughes plate on this weekend... my gauge never did that before haha. must mean its fixed!

It probably did it before, you just didn't notice.

What happens is when the rpm's go up the oil pump spins faster, that increases the flow (volume). Since there is more volume, the pressure increases.
