Default Upstream o2 issue

Hello, I have a 1998 1500 with the 360 engine 4wd. Im having upstream o2 issues with DTC code P0132, I have tried a bosch, denso, and currently a NTK sensor with no luck. With the sensor plugged in, it will run great for about 3-5 miles then will start loosing power and backfiring, as soon as i unplug the sensor, it will run great but a little rich. I have a fastman o2 sim on the rear sensor with no issues. Im thinking im going to have to go to the dealership for a sensor, but was wanting some other input on it before i spend the money.

Look up the code. P0132 is not the sensor, its the sensor heater. If you have replaced it with an NTK and the issue persists then its not the sensor thats the problem. I only know because I have the same CEL Check all connections, and follow all the wires and look for a short which is most likely setting the CEL off. Don't run Bosch in these trucks they hate them. O2 wouldnt cause cause a misfire I would think... something else going on. Fixed your plenum yet?

edit: heres the codes description http://www.obd-codes.com/p0132

Purchased the truck little over year ago, top end already been gone through completely, no leaks anywhere. Transmission replaced last weekend, so it just very may be possible a wire got pinched. I just find it weird that it will idle perfect, and run almost perfect with the sensor unhooked. Then plugged in will run like s**t.

Just because there was no leaks doesn't mean you don't need to fix the plenum. Read the sticky at the top of the page. Mine runs well and idles at the spec number. What do ya mean runs like $h!t plugged in? What does it do? That could be a bad o2 to begin with. Most likely is a pinched wire though thats setting the code off. Mine runs just fine plugged in. Connections all good? Sensor is tightened in the bung?

edit: did you disconnect the negative battery cable when putting the new sensor in?

With it plugged in, it will idle low, act like running out of gas, has no power at all even to the floor, rpms will not even go up, just stay extreamly low. i can pull on side of the road, cut truck off, unplug the sensor, and it will run fine. Is there a way to test the wiring with a multimeter?

Unplug as is in pull the sensor out completely? Or just disconnect the electrical, sensor still in bung? If you have to remove the sensor completely thats a clogged cat , usually resulting from a blown plenum. If just disconnecting the electrical I'd say bad sensor but I've never heard of an o2 doing that much before.

Thats quite odd, I wonder if more of the harness got damaged then just the heater wire. You're gonna have to take a look.

Is that a new sensor? If so, what brand? Wouldn't be the first time I got a bad part, right out of the box.
