so just wondering what everyone's opinion is, and also what all would i have to change? i know ill have to change fuel delivery to hook up to the carb but what else? will the mounts and tranny all bolt up just fine?
anyway to make the trans i have work with it? or do i gotta find one? I would love to have a 440 in my ramcharger so so much... yes i love the sound too cant beat it.
You'd smoke the transmission in fairly short order.
There is a reason why the 727 is behind everything...it's damn near bulletproof. I do things with my 76 that I would NEVER even think of with my Ram, simply because of the trans.
true that, between the engine and trans i could get both for 900. guy wants 500 for the 440 but i dunno if its complete or just the block. another guys is sellin one for 900 says its complete and runs. guy wants 400 for a rebuilt 727.
$900 doesn't seem bad to me. Especially since 440s aren't exactly easy to find. $400 for a rebuilt 727? Ehh...could be sketchy, could be friggin awesome.
Motor mounts, and transmission will need to be changed. They are quite different for the big block. I am not aware of a 4spd auto that will bolt to it.
Going with a 727 is an option, but, then you will need to address driveshaft lengths, as the trans/t-case would be shorter.
Then you would need to figure out how to run the gauges.....
is there a difference between the 727 for a 2wd and a 4wd? will the xfer case from my ramcharger bolt right up? and also what about the tranny mounts and both driveshaft lengths?
