Default Vacuum line help

The vacuum line that goes through the firewall where the heater core hoses go is broken. I believe it's the vacuum that controls the vents in the cab. I need to know what is the easiest way to replace it. It melted when I had an engine fire. Do I have to completely remove the dash to replace it? None of the hose is sticking out of the firewall so I can't just get an adapter and extend it.

i'm not sure but maybe - i think i remember that the line in my 01 goes into the cowl area under the windshield wipers, and there was a vacuum reservoir hiding in there. I don't know if it was factory original, or some add-on.

There is a reservoir but I'm talking about the line that goes through the firewall where the hoses go through

Look inside, and see if you can see it.... (don't hold your breath.) if you can shove a half-inch or so of the line back into the engine compartment, just use a piece of rubber vacuum line to splice it.

Take the glovebox out, and see if you can get at it that way.
Bow in the sides so the tabs clear the dash, and it will tip out and off the hinges.
