Default Spedometer Calibration

I have seen a lot of threads on here for calibrating a spedometer when you put on bigger tires but no real consensus on how to do it.
I have a 98 ram 1500 that has bigger tires and im not sure how to go about fixing my spedometer. Would i be able to do this through the obd2? Any ideas / suggestions would be appreciated!

There are consensus ways alright:

1. Dealer adjustment
2. Tuner that can do it. Superchips is only one that can do it, at my current knowledge.

superchips - yes.
hypertech claims to - but its hit or miss.

dealer scan tool sets the "pinion factor" in the pcm for tire size (revolutions per mile). dealer cost is likely to be an hour of labor.

you might can buy an older UNLOCKED superchips for $100-200. don't buy it unless its unlocked, or it won't work. the bonus to the superchips is its a decent cure for death flash.

What about the little box they used to sell ? You had to wire it up and then drive the truck and stop and adjust it till it was right !

Bandaid fix. Spend the money, do it right. One less point of failure as well.

on those - you have to hack into your speed sensor wiring and re-time the signal to the pcm. it seems a lot cleaner to follow the designed process and adjust the factor in the pcm.
