Default Clicky Rattling transfer case

I have a 1500 4x4 sport, 133k.
The drive train sounds like something is rattling in the transfer case, maybe in the rear cone area from the sounds of it when I turn the drive shaft in neutral.I thought it was the u joints at first, but they're all tight, it has that hollow metallic sound, chain maybe? Starts around 30 mph
I don't know a whole lot about 4x4's, kinda new to it. Gonna put it on a lift tomorrow and check it out.
Thoughts?
Thanks

Could be a broken snap ring on the end of the output shaft inside the cone. Check to see how much end play you have transfer case.

thanks,
I forgot to mention it also grinds a little when shifting into 4H while moving, also seems like it wants to throw it out of 4H but can't.

I had a similar problem and it was a damaged sensor ring...

It's number 11 in the diagram ---

well, turns out there was no fluid in the transfer case, sounds like the chain is stretched out maybe. Added fluid, still making the noise, you just have to listen for it now. U joints are good though.
Otherwise... upper and lower ball joints are bad, the left front hub is bad, the radiator is leaking and front brakes need replacing. Oh yea the rear end is leaking.

^congratulations. you own a dodge. track bar is likely bad, plenum is leaking, cat is clogged, and the transmission will be next.
