I am not sure how I would feel about putting a clutch style limited slip in the front axle.... you spend most of your time in 2wd, and that is going to put continuous strain on the clutches on the drivers side, as that axle never disconnects. If the LSD is designed right..... it won't matter, as the clutches won't have pressure applied when in 2wd anyway..... (as it usually comes from the driveshaft applying it...) but, the e-locker, while more expensive... you flip the switch, and it disengages. End of story.

If you have the extra dough, I would spring for the e-locker. It's pretty much mechanical, just an electromagnet that pulls/pushes pins in place to lock it. (can make cornering fun......) Detroit locker??

The Detroit true trac is helical gears not clutches. That is what Thornloe is looking at vs. the Elocker.

Ah. Thank you.

Yeah, those are actually pretty good. Used in military Hummers. (or, at least, the same basic design. )

Recently I went to order 4.88s for my truck and 4wheelparts told me they weren't making or stocking 4.88 gears for 9.25s anymore.

I did. I found some motive 4.56s at summit for $200. My point: call before you give them your credit card info. 4wp decided to take a week and a half of me calling up there asking when it would be shipped to tell me that they didn't even have the gears and trying to keep the $260 they debited my account for.

I concur with this point. Eff 4wp. They rarely have useful stuff for our archaic trucks. lol

West Coast Differential here has their own gear sets called Sierra. I know they have r/ps for the 9.25.

I went with the 4.56s because of availability. they were on my doorstep the next day while 4wp was still bitching about a refund.

This is true. Both the Eaton E-locker and the Detroit true trac are gear style limited slip/locker. I believe the clutch style are a bit cheaper but I haven't heard great things about them. I definately think that gear style is better than clutch style.
