Default Cat or no Cat

Sup fellas.
So I'm in the middle of replacing my plenum gasket, and had a question on the cat.
Did a quick search and didn't really pull anything up, but at what point does the cat no longer become usable? It's definitely clogged, and causing performance issues. I have my new o2 sensor, but if the cats no good I'm just going to get rid of it.
Basically, can I be a cheap *** and keep my cat? Or is it permanently clogged?

put a straight pipe in place of it, cats are useless

gut it out, cut it off or buy a new one is about your only options. You'll have to satisfy the O2 sensor if you gut it out or cut it off though.

I'd say get a new one. Not that expensive and it keeps your CEL from coming on and the environazis off your ***.

You could also go with an aftermarket highflo cat

If you're not in an emissions state then I would just ditch the cat and use a H pipe with an O2 sensor to satisfy. That is my setup.

This isn't the 1970's why do people still think a properly working cat & emission system a bad thing? Get up to date with things and learn that this stuff is bad voodoo junk.

You can get high flow cats so that isn't an issue and there is really no reason not to run a cat. Yes if you live somewhere that doesn't check your emissions you can get away with removing your cat BUT you are still violating federal law. If for some reason you were to be checked and found not to have all the required equipment you could receive a fine.

Now on the other side yes you can run without the cat and there are ways to fool the sensors to think the cat is still there. So yes you can run without it but with the current selection of cats there isn't any reason to.

Just run a magnaflow high flow cat. I got mine for like 216 shipped off summit. Totally changed the sound of my exhaust. Makes it a lot deeper and it looks nice underneath.

I have to say my cat got stopped up and instead of replacing the 1000$ cat y pipe and flanges i had to hollow it out. Through the cat code took care of it and everything is all better now. It does make a difference in sound as well, not to count the mpg i gained back.

But also it took me several hours with a sledge hammer, piece of thick pipe, solid metal bar, and was a pain in the a$$! you can't leave any pieces in it.
