Default 1996 Dodge ram How do I replace the back glass

Hello all, The other day I go out and get in my truck and one of the stationary pieces of the back glass is shattered (only thing holding it together is the tint). So I call around and am definitely going with a back glass from a salvage yard. Now I'm wondering how to take the old one out and put the new one back in, It has a rear sliding glass in it and thats what I'm replacing it with if that makes a difference. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated and Thanks in advance.

Do you need assistance for removing the sliding rear window from the vehicle in the junkyard?

Nah the junkyard is going to have it out and ready to go. I need to know how to take the old one out of my truck and put the new one in, and anything else Ill need to install the new one, adhesives or anything of that sort and how much of it. Like I said I have no clue what I'm doing.

Can you post pictures of the old one? You stated in your initial post that the glass was shattered with only the window tint holding it in place.

In all honesty, I'd take the old one to a glass shop and have them install it. I'd recommend cleaning the channel of the replacement with Goof Off, WD-40, or anything else that will clean up adhesive as the one from the junkyard should have trace amounts around the edges toward the upper corners.

Yeah one pane is shattered the passenger side stationary one. I really cant afford to pay someone to do it, or Id definitely go that route. I might be able to get some pics this weekend when I go to work on it some more its not here at home.

Is the rear window held in with a rubber seal or is it glued in? They came both ways, the older ones used the rubber seal and that would make your job a little ezer.

How did you get the rear window out of your 97 ? That is the question here. You told me through PM's a couple months ago, but I mistakenly deleted the post. I know it's a different procedure for 98 and up. 97 back is a lot easier from what I remember.
