death flash
I have been reading about these death flases on some of the second gen dodges, would a 94' 5.9 ram have one installed? I see a lot of them between 96'-01' so I am wondering if it is on mine as well. And if it's not would a performance PCM or chip be benificial at all?
I'm fairly certain that the death flash mainly applies to 00-01 models only...but I suppose that if a 96-99 truck went to the dealer for a "computer update" or some other service, then it may have had the death flash put on there too....it wouldn't apply to yours since its OBD-1, but you can look on the computer and see if it has a sticker on there saying "PCM update" or something of that sort. I'll wait for merc to chime in on the benefits of his mopar performance pcm

My 01 has it. The PCM has a sticker across the top of it that says "Authorized Software Update".

My truck is a 2000 Ram 1500 with the 5.9 magnum, that I purchased in November of 1999. Would it have the death flash? I purchased a hypertech programmer and it is installed, would this have gotten rid of the death flash?
Yes it may have the death flash, and yes any programmer will overwrite it.
yes it got rid of it, but i have heard **** poor things about the hypertech. the SCT blows it out of the water, but its not really being offered right now by hemifever.
