Default 1998 ram 1500 sport no heat

Okay, I know this has been covered before, but mine seems to be a little different. There is no heat in the mornings and the temp gauge does not come up until i floor it up an on ramp. Then the gauge comes up to normal operating temp and i get heat. The engine does not seem to be overheating before this. I will be replacing the thermostat and heater core next week ( i'm pulling heater box to replace a/c evap core as that is leaking as well) and was wondering if there is anything else that could be the problem. Thanks ahead of time for your replies.

Thermostat will more than likely solve the no heat issue. Sounds like it is sticking.
