Default Hi output coil - worth it ?.

Ive been looking at high output coils, and I was wondering if they are really worth it ?. From what ive read the stock coil puts out about 38000 volts. Some of the high output coils put out 42000 volts or more.

38000 volts seems like a good amount of power going to the spark plugs. So is getting a high output coil that puts out 42000 volts or more really going to make a difference in power or performance ?.

My dad's ram has the Davis Unified Ignition Firepower Ignition Kit from summit with a high performance coil. I don't know the voltage of this coil but personally I don't think there was much, if any improvement in performance.

Higher energy ignition in and of itself won't help. it is more useful in combination with other mods that would be friendlier with high output ignition systems. (Forced induction springs immediately to mind.)

And from what I've read here, the aftermarket options (despite their labels) don't actually have much more output than the stock coil, and the stock coils have the greatest life expectancy.

Accel coils used to get a bad rep (purpldodge). I ran one for years without issue, nor did I seem to gain anything. Don't waste your time.
