Post Bad power window motor?

Today I went to unload the 10 hay bales from yesterdays hay run, and I couldn't roll down the passenger window from the driver's side controls. I decided to reach across and try to roll it down from the passenger's side controls, which worked but sounded a bit odd. After rolling it down I tried to roll it back up (to see if the noise happens again) and it didn't move or sound like it was trying to move at all. However, it does make a sound when I try to roll it down further (even though it doesn't go down any more). I assume it is just the motor and plan on replacing it tomorrow.

Sounds like a plan.

New motor installed but problem still exists. I suspect there is a problem with the wiring. The passenger side window will only go down but not up, I managed to use some extra wire and reverse the polarity just so the window is up now. Any suggestions on a specific place to check?

All the wiring gets routed thru the drivers door switch first. Start there.

If you take out the two screws that hold the door pull on, you can reach thru there, and push on the spring clip that holds the switch plate in place. DO NOT break it.... there is another clip at the front, but, lift the rear first, pull back a bit, and it should come right out. Harness is long enough that you can pull it out some.

i had a somewhat similar problem with door locks. problem was a broken wire in the door hinge on the drivers side, which locked out drivers side switch. passenger side controls still worked.

I have similar problems as well, I can't roll down the passenger window from the driver's side and I can't unlock the truck from the passenger's side but it can lock.

my passenger switch doesnt roll down the passenger window. but the drivers side switch does. i thought it was the passenger switch but checking with a test light shows there is power from the passenger switch to the motor. however the odd time the switch will work. not to sure what to think now

May be dirty contacts in the switch. I think there is a DIY to disassemble, and clean them, in the FAQ section.
