Default Overdrive off button doesn't seem to be working

I had a mouse chew through my idle air control valve connector and on fuel injector connector and multiple vacuum lines. I fixed all those problems and drove it for the first time in 7 months (was in Afghanistan). The overdrive off button doesn't illuminate when I push it and nothing shows up on the dash. Now it's been awhile, but I believe the switch had a little orange light turn on on the switch when it's depressed and the switch stays pushed in. Also I can't tell if the transmission is shifting into overdrive, it usually didn't go into O/D until after 55 but I can't tell, that's why I was trying to turn the O/D off. Any help?

The button is just a momentary on. Doesn't stay pushed in. It just sends a signal to the PCM to disable O/D. If the light doesn't come on, the PCM either isn't getting the signal, or, the lite is burnt out.

If your truck is stock, you should shift into O/D along with TCC lock right around 45 MPH. RPM should be right around 1500 at 55 MPH.

Wire from O/D switch goes to pin 10 on the PCM connector. Orange with White trace. Check and see if you get 12 volts there when someone presses the button. (Ignition on, probably engine running.)

awesome thanks for the help! I drove it to work this morning and I'm sure it's not going into O/D either, but I will shoot the wires. Also does anybody know how many connectors plug into the transmission? I've found three, speedo sensor, a larger 4 pin connector right over the transmission, and the neutral safety connector.

The tires that are on the truck now are only 285/75/16s but I do not have a tach in the truck.....it never had one....

also when I did my wire harness repair, I removed the entire harness to get a good solder on the wires, considering that the only damage was the two connectors, I probably could've left the harness installed....

Should be a three wire connector on the middle of the trans, drivers side? That one controls the O/D and TCC solenoids. If you aren't getting O/D at all, one would think the PCM would notice that, and set a code..... one would think.....

Got a scanner you can plug in while driving, and see if the PCM is even requesting O/D?

See if you are getting any trouble codes. Turn the key from off to on (not start) three times. It should tell you on the readout if your PCM has any codes thrown.

He has a 95. No electronic readout to get codes from. It might flash the Check Engine lite though. Not sure.

thanks again, my check engine light is always on but I never pay attention to it because it doesn't misfire or bog down, I only get concerned when things start happening I guess (like no O/D), I figured it might've been something I did but I wanted to ask around for opinions, I should've stated in the first thread that I removed the harness....

I know the one three pin connector on the driver's side goes to the neutral safety switch, i'll have to jump under there and look to be sure I did connect everything correctly.....

FIXED!!!!

Found that last 3 pin connector right where you said it would be, cleaned it out, put some dielectric grease in it, plugged it in, fired up the truck, now the O/D light on the switch works and it drops into O/D around 47 mph and kicks out of it while I hit the O/D switch! Perfect! Thanks for all the help!
