Default Front axle shift fork

While putting my posilok on I got to my shift fork and found this. Can I reuse this? Is this normal for a 96 dodge? Thanks

are you asking about the shiny places on the shift fork where the collar may have scrubbed it ?

i don't remember if mine had those marks or not. unless it seems extremely thin, i'd reuse it.

are those the original pads, or replacements?

Yeah where it looks like it's been rubbing. And yeah those are the original, they look damn near perfect to me

It appears to me that the shift fork has uneven wear. Either it was not in it's proper location or the axle shaft ends are out of position. Most likely the former.

that's why i was asking about the pads. they fit into the groove in the collar and hold it aligned.

if the pads are in place, it should be aligned and the collar would not hit the fork.
perhaps in an earlier life, the pads fell off and the collar flopped around.

i'd reuse it until a specific problem was identified.

I think I'll reuse it. I agree, I don't think it was in the right place. Thanks

Look more like sloppy machining from the manufacturer.
