Default Trans swap help

98 Dodge Ram 5.9L 4x4
Assuming we have a 46re here.

We found a trans that we think would work but the bell housing is different. The top half looks right, but the area of the starter looks like it pushes out further on the old transmission.
Not sure it the starter will bolt in.

Said it was a 98 46re but now I'm not sure.

From doing a part number search you have picked up a 44re not a 46re.

It will probably fit, but, your 360 will smoke it in relatively short order. Sell it, find the right trans.

OP, i had a 46re a couple weeka ago but i have since sold it.

keep an eye on craigslist, and dont be afraid to make offers, no one seems to be really buying this stuff so no one gets what they ask for and are glad to just get rid of it. dont ask me how i know this

Well it's my fault for not checking the numbers before we bought it. And trusting the Craigslist ad.
