depends on a few things.
if you have sensors on both the drivers side and passenger side, then bank 1 is drivers side and bank 2 is passenger side.
but - if you have sensors on only 1 side, then bank 1 is that side, regardless of which side its on.
so - in a california emissions dodge truck (with 2 cats) with sensors on both sides, bank 1 is drivers side. in a federal emissions version (with 1 cat), bank 1 is on passenger side.
then, sensor 1 is pre-cat (also called upstream), and sensor 2 is post-cat (also called downstream).
sensor 3 would be the third one in line - but i didn't know that existed. are you sure it was sensor 3 and not 1 or 2.
if you are buying sensors, unplug your old and check the shape - round vs square. the connections are up on top of the transmission and the best way to unplug them is to very gently clip or remove the plastic post that holds it in place in a body hole, so you can pull the wire down where you can see and reach the connector in order to press the release button and get it apart. after replacement, you can secure it back in position with a wire tie.

Is your truck california emissions? Even then, you would have four sensors, but still no bank 1 sensor 3...... something is screwy there. Can your scanner read real time data? If so, have a look at the O2 sensors. See if you even have an option of sensor 3 in there. (I doubt it.) I begin to suspect a PCM that is getting confused.
