Default ? i thinktorsion bar question

aiight...I have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 2wd....does this truck have a torsion bar??? If so can I lower the front end by adjusting it...I've heard that you can lift trucks like 1 inch with it..but I wanna lower like 1 or 2 inches. I know how to adjust it, just not sure if I have one..lol, if that makes any sense. thanks.

The new Rams have it though. If you have a solid front axle, you do not have a torsion bar. It goes with IFS setups.

ya I have IFS..but i guess still no torsion since it's a 2000..i have a theory though..but I'm not sure..on the "A-arms" i guess you'd call em..inside there is a recessed shock mount plate for the coil spring to sit on, here's my idea...get rid of that plate and weld in one that sits like 2 or 3 inches lower in the a arm..what do you guys think of that???

Yeah...it's IFS...sorta.

Have you looked into other options...such as springs: http://www.drivewire.com/performance...500prokit.html

Or kits: http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/s...nd_force06.htm

They'd be safer than modifying your suspension. I've seen a lot of unsafe suspension modifications on many different vehicles. Just my 2 cents...

He has a 2wd, which has IFS. Torsion bars will only be found on a 4wd IFS.

I have to agree with Burning Rom. Do your drop correctly. I own a 98 RAM 4x4 and a "Chebby" S-10 4x4. I raised the front of the S-10 by cranking up the torsion bars, and it caused more problems than I thought it would. Uneven tire wear, skittish steerting, and threw off the steering dynamics. The only way to lift or lower is with the proper kit. Spend the money to avoid the problems.
