my 98 ram will shift into 1st fine then it will shift into 2nd fine one out of 5 times the other 4 it will redline until I take my foot of the pedal then it shifts and after that it will shift the rest of the way fine changed the fluid and filter checked the kick down cable seems to be ok any ideas I keep looking online seems to be a common problem but no one has a answer what it is any ideas it shifts fine manually threw 1 2 then drive

 

Should have adjusted the bands while you had the pan off the trans. Use a clean bucket to catch the fluid, and give it a shot.
