Default Kick-down cable universal between years?

I replaced the kick-down cable on my truck with one from a jy. My transmission only downshifts 1 gear when floored instead of 2 gears like it use to. So I need to know if the kick-down cable is universal from all years? Maybe the one I got is a little bit to short?

My throttle also feels dead at the beginning of the pedal. I have to push the pedal farther than I use to have to. It feels like I have no power at the beginning of the pedal. I have verified that the TB opens fully when at WOT. I have checked and the only code I get is for an o2 heater failure problem I am trying to chase down.

if the cable connects up, and can be adjusted properly, should work just fine. IS it adjusted properly? (procedure is in the service manual.)

Is the throttle cable routed correctly on the throttle body? (needs to go under the little black plastic shoe on the throttle arm.)

TPS working properly?

Not just starting out in second gear is it?

No it starts in 1st. I was wondering if it was the tps because of the no power at the beginning of the pedal.

You can test it if you have a scanner, or, an analog volt meter.

I have the Torque app and the adapter. Do you know if it will test it? I know when the truck is idling the torque app shows 12.2 on the throttle like it's open partially.

Should work great. It is basically a scanner. Gotta love it.

some voltage even at idle is normal. What you want to see is that value going up smoothly, and steadily as you step on the gas. if it bounces around, or doesn't change for any period of time when stepping down on the gas, time for a new one.

Here is what Torque shows about the throttle. It says it's a % not a voltage not sure if it's correct tho. First pic is idle and second pic is WOT. If it is actually a % then it says I am only at 74% throttle at WOT and that would explain a lot.

This is at idle.

This is at WOT

Ah, the app reports percent opening, as opposed to actual voltage from the sensor. Might have to whoop out with a meter to properly test it. Should be under 1 volt at idle, and greater than 3.5 at WOT. (with a smooth sweep in between.)

Grab the 01 service manual, and have a look at the wiring diagrams. Should show which wires do what on the sensor, you want to put the red probe into the signal wire. Ground the black probe anywhere.
