need some help with coolent hose

My plenum is supposed to be in today so when I do that ill change the water pump also

If you are going to dig that deep into it, spend another 70 bucks or so, and replace the timing chain and gears as well. It's only like six more bolts.

Dont you have to pull down the oil pan to change them out

Nope. There are two bolts that go up through the pan into the timing cover. Take em out, (along with the other four that are left once the water pump is off) and carefully tilt the timing cover out from the top. It should break loose from the oil pan gasket without tearing it.

When you put things back together, put the timing cover in place, start all the bolts (but, not the ones for the water pump...) SNUG the bolts going into the block, and then torque the pan bolts to spec. Finish installing the rest of the stuff.

A bit of RTV at the bottom there isn't a bad idea though.

Ok dont sound to bad ive never messed with one of these before ive always been a sb chevy guy thanks for all the help can you pull the oil pan with the motor in the truck

Yes, jack up the truck but let the front axle hang and put jackstands under the frame rails, plenty of room to get the pan off and on.

Ok so I pulled the ac and altnater and did a pressure test and I think its leaking behind the water pump is there a plate or something back there that can leak it looks like its against the block

Sounds like your gasket's leaking.

Yea I think its the timeing chain cover im going to pull it all apart tomorrow and see what it is

Well I pulled the water pump and timeing chain cover and im glad I did the timing chain was eating a hole in the cover thats why I didnt have any power
