I pull the handle to release the hood on my 2000 ram 1500 pickup and the hood won't release. How do I get it open

Have someone else pull the release, and hold it, you push down on the hood first, and then try to lift it.

If that works, lube the latch really well. If it doesn't, you might be able to disassemble the release (inside the truck) and yank on the cable with a pair of pliers. (cable probably is stretched.)

 

If you get no where with the cable in the truck then it's only two bolts to take the catch bar thing off the hood from underneath. You will need 2-3 feet of socket extensions and I believe a 10mm socket. If you go that route then you should get a towel or a jacket to hold down on it when you release the latch, if you don't hold down on it when you release the latch then I hope you have a clean pair of underwear on hand.
