Default Clicking when 4 wheel drive is engaged

Hello to all, I know that there is probably threads out there about this topic already. I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.9L. While driving in 2w it is fine. But when I engage the 4w, there is a clicking sound from underneath the truck. I cant tell if it is coming from the front of the truck or if it is coming from transfer case. When I have to turn slightly it seems like it gets louder as well. I changed the fluid about 2 1/2 years ago when I overhauled the transmission. So I know that it could be 1 of several things. Just looking for some obvious things to check on. I don't drive it much only a little bit on the weekends and if I have to pull something. Winter is upon me and I may need it soon. I probably should of started looking at this situation a long time ago instead of waiting for the last minute. lol.

Another thing is a few years ago I had to change the bearing inside the rear differential and Im pretty sure I got it geared back up right but who knows. I don't know if that would have anything to do with it since I did that a few years ago and the clicking really didn't start until about 8 or 9 months ago. Over the past 3 years I have replace both front u-joints and both front hub bearings. Not saying its not either one of those already again but that is all of the work that I have done with the front end. Any help would be greatly appreciate. Thank you

Check u-joints in the front drive shaft, and the outer axles. The front joint on my front shaft was just about gone, and it made some rather interesting noises in 4x4.

I just got done checking all the u-joints. The front drive shaft seem fine but the passenger side outer is worn out pretty bad. Its just weird because I just replaced both sides no more than 2 years ago or so. I used moog parts and had them pressed in by the fleet department where I work. Wouldn't I of heard some clicking from the front even without engaged in the 4 wheel? When they went out the last time I heard it pretty heavy. I haven't heard anything from the front until I put it in 4w. I guess I will get that done soon and see what happens. Thanks
