Default Lift the bed or drop the tank?

I haven't checked pressure, but I'm tossing out worst case scenarios.

If the pressure regulator is going bad and it has to be replaced might as well save headache later and replace fuel pump as well. But would you recommend dropping the tank or lifting the bed?

It was -8 this morning....neither sounds like a very good idea to me right now.

Pay someone else to do it.....

Dropping the tank I think is best. Everyone has their opinion though.

I just changed my fuel pump a few weeks ago, I pulled the bed. But then I also had/have access to a towmotor that made it a lot easier.

Either way I would have pulled the bed anyway. To me it's just a lot easier to pull the bed than to drop the tank when it's 3/4 full. Also by dropping the tank, there is a chance the fuel lines can get broke. I didn't feel like taking the chance.

LOL

Done this five times or more now drop the tank, if there is gas in the tank siphon it out, with the tank out I can also clean it out really well. I work by myself I just can't see me moving a truck bed.

Drop tank 2
Remove bed 1

lol

If I lift the bed it will be by block and tackle...as I also have no able bodied assistance. I do like the first answer, but I'm a bit of a skinflint.

I generally lift up one side...almost always when I'm working on other dodges...alot of times things can be badly rusted, the lines are often brittle...so I just don't mess around, go in from the top, replace whats needed and if things are really bad, then I will drop the tank, for instance to get water or sediment out.

I believe it's 8 bolts for long box and 6 for short. Had mine off a couple months ago. Personally, I would lift the box off. I've had mine off so many times I can have it off within an hour. Couple bolts, couple wires and done. 2 hour job at most. Never dropped my tank so I'm not sure what kind of a job it is either. When I had my box off I figured it was a good time to replace brake lines, shocks and I even sandblasted the frame and painted it.

I chose to life the box. Just remember to unplug the connectors for the lights at the back. 8 bolts and jack up one side and use wood blocks to keep it from falling. I wasn't able to siphon the gas out and literally had just gotten gas before it happened. 17 gallons in the tank is way too much for me alone to handle!
