Thanks! I'll look into all that. Sorry, I'm not sure what a TV cable is.

Would the PCM need flashed or tuned, if all of the above are done?

I'll start looking into mounting the crank sensor to the adapter flex plate. If that can't be done reasonably easily, I'll move on.

Thanks for all the help guys!

TV Cable = Throttle Valve Cable. Modulates shifts by how hard you are stepping on the fun pedal. Hooks to a crank on the carb/throttle body.

That is what I thought, but wasn't 100% sure.

I don't think I got one when I bought the motor & stuff. Does this cable then connect to the trans? I have a shifter cable, and I need a throttle cable, but I didn't see anything else.

Yeah, on the trucks, it connects to the passenger side of the TB, wraps around the trans, to a lever where the shift linkage goes into the trans on the drivers side, toward the front.

Thanks I don't remember taking one off the assembly when I took everything apart. I'll get into my storage locker and take a look at what I've got. I'm 99% sure the only thing I pulled off the trans is the shifter cable & harness.

What you think is the shift cable, might be the TV cable.... I think the shift linkage is actually link rods, and such. (no cable involved.) I will be under my truck later today. I will verify that for ya.

Shift linkage is indeed all rods and such. Just spent some time staring at it.

Are there any other opt for a trigger like one off the HB or say an aftermarket dizy that will fit and work with the pcm?

Thanks I went to my storage locker & checked it out, I have one short piece of linkage left, and the TV cable attached right above it.

That would be nice if there were. I need to find out more about the adapter pieces between the 331 & 46RE, if it uses the stock flex plate, then the stock sensor should work.

There aren't many aftermarket options for the 331, some are actually extending 340 dizzy shafts to install newer dizzys into the 331. I need to read up on it. There isn't even a Petronix upgrade for my stock points dizzy.

Well the good thing is that the PCM doesn't care where it's getting the trigger from...it uses a hall effect sensor and that means you could use the MSD reluctor wheel fitted to the harmonic balancer. You could even take the balancer OFF and have grooves machined in at the correct intervals and that will work too. (dont ask me what the count is I don't know)
