Hey all, im looking to replace my mirrors on my truck and I ran into a question. I have factory regular mirrors on her and I would like to upgrade to some tow mirrors. So a few questions, I read on an ebay post that i would need to buy a "factory tow mirror bracket" to put them on. So first off, what the hell is that and can anyone point me in the right direction to find them?

They are folding mirrors, yada.. Do y'all like em? Yes my truck is power and heated already for my mirrors. Can anyone point me in the direction of real tow mirrors and not these folding ones? I think i would prefer those!

Check on LMC Truck for the 'stock' tow mirrors.

The bracket, I think, is just a triangular piece that goes inside the door to reinforce the mounting point. That should be on the site as well.

 

Those are real tow mirrors in the link. Dodge mirrors fold out like that for towing. OEM Dodge from a dealer will be priced high enough to scare you. Those ebay mirrors as well as the LMC and other sites are Klear-Vue mirrors. They're aftermarket but function and look like the OEM units. The bracket helps reinforce the door so the mirror won't wobble/vibrate at speed and will be sold by anyone also selling the tow mirrors.

 

Mmm interesting on the "real tow mirrors." Im used to the tow mirrors on my dad's f250. However, the fold out i do like. I will have to find a video on the bracket n such to see what all it entails doing. Thank you for the LMC truck site, the brackets there will works quite well for me! Thank you all for the help!

 

It's just like HeyYou said. It's a triangle shaped plate used on the inside of the door. Slide the 3 mounting studs through the door frame from the outside, slip the plate over the studs on the inside and install the locknuts. Don't crank the locknuts too hard or the window will never roll up. The hardest part is removing the door panel.

^^ There ya go. Comes with brackets and both mirrors. Exactly what I got on mine when I switched mirrors.

 

^^^same here. I've had mine on for over a year. Absolutely love them. They work awesome when towin my ghost trailer. :P

Wait, you can get these with the running light/directional for 2nd gens? Might have to look into those.

 

I installed mirrors from 1a auto. the install went exactly as planned (even if it started to rain half way through! That video is great for reference. I will post pics of them tomorrow, but I highly recommend replacing your mirrors!! As a side note.. The bolts have 2 threads on them, one on each end. The can screw out of the mirror itself to give you a lomger bolt, get some vice grips to screw em out and it's much easier!
