Could I grind off that bracket and weld one on from another truck. Kind of a stupid question but asking anyway. Like will it mess with anything around it or weaken anything?

Or a better question since I have a part out truck. Is there a way I can replace it? The truck I’m fixing is a 96 and the part truck is a 2000. Shouldn’t be any difference.

Sure. But it's still pain to do. Much more grinding and welding.
Remove the bolt and see how much play there actually is.

If you have parts truck, easiest way would be to change the whole front axle.

Washers, and tighten the bolt more.
