hi I have a 1995 ram 1500 2wd with brand new 318 and would like to know if I am going to run into any trouble switching out the 1999 318 4wd with the 95 318 2wd? the 95 has an external egr and mine does not have an egr. will I run into trouble if I delete the egr or just don't plug in? also was curious if there are 4wd sensors on the 99 engine the 95 may not have.

if you want to keep the EGR, just transfer your intake (which you are going to need anyway, 99 only has one temp sensor, yours has two), and the passenger exhaust manifold. (not to mention the vacuum lines, and valve.....) You can leave it off, but, it may or may not set a code.
No sensors on engine for 4x4. Oil pan, and pickup may be different though.

Just to clarify, i want to put the 1995 318 2wd engine in my 1999 dodge 4wd, besides the basics like oil pan and sensors, are there any whoa!s i should look out for? And while i have the intake off to switch over what kinda things should i look into replacing fixing etc. plenum? Thx again for all the help... As well will i run into any problems bolting up the tranny or with the install of motor bolting it in etc

That makes life easier actually.
Use the intake off the 99. Do the plenum fix while it is off, if you haven't already. If the donor motor is over 80K miles, replace the timing chain and gears as well. (easy when its on the stand, not too bad doing it in the truck)
have a look at the oil pans, if they are different, change them. Don't forget the oil pump pickup tube as well. (and again, if the engine is 80K+ miles, might wanna throw a new pump in there just for giggles.)
Take the crank position sensor OFF before removing the engine, if you are going to re-use your original. (suggested) Put the engine in, and then reinstall it. They tend to be victims of engine swaps if left in place.
The passenger side exhaust manifold on the 95 will have the port for EGR, you can either block it off with a plate, weld it shut, or swap the manifold off your 99.
Aside from that, I don't think there is much else to worry about.
