Also, didn't see it here, but I had a nasty misfire that ended up being a bad plug wire. Installed new wires and wired according to the TSB. Incredible difference.

 

Most parts stores will have a code reader these days.

 

Well, I had someone come out with a code reader, and there were no codes. Luckily it was a nice gentleman who had the same truck as me. Asked me what all I had done, started it, and the second he did you could smell a real rich aroma of gas.

Seems that I put my intake manifold back on incorrectly. So this sunday I will be taking it all back apart and trying this all over again. I am already dreading those back two bolts.

Well, they have been out recently, so, shouldn't be too much of a problem. I seem to always break off the front ones....

 

Yeah my mechanic broke the two front ones when he did the heads.

Update: Well I had a guy come out with a code reader and nothing came up. He asked all I had done and started the truck. It of course did not stay running and you could smell thick fuel. He told me it might be the intake manifold was not torqued correctly.
Had another guy come out to torque it for me and after further inspection he said it has to be something to do with my fuel rail. Now after looking at the instructions for changing the plenum gasket I did not release the air from the fuel rail.

So what do you all think I should try next? I don't have $400 to give to a shop to "check things out". Thanks in advance.

 

Check your temp sensor, and be sure it is plugged in good. If you still have the scanner available, see what the PCM thinks engine temp is.
