Default weird noise up front

hey everybody, I have this weird noise I cant pinpoint, its kind of a whooping noise at low speeds and even sitting at a stop light, once I put truck in park it goes away, sounds like a pigeon in my dash area almost, ive spayed lithium grease just about every where but I cant find exactly where it coming from, anyone else ever have this issue? its a 2001 ram 4x4 1500, and advise where to look would be great, thanks

when its put in park or neutral it goes away, in drive it will start again, its noticeable sitting there with the emergency brake on in drive or sitting with my foot on the brake, above 30 mph I don't hear it, when im driving down the neighborhood hitting small bumps is where its the loudest

Is it coming from inside the truck, or outside? Since it does it even if the truck isn't moving, that leaves out driveshafts/axles and such. Need to see if you can localize it some more. As it will do it in drive, with the e-brake on, have someone else sit in the cab (safety measure) while you go exploring. See if you can find it.

You have a lot of things turning when the engine is running. It could be a bad bearing on the alternator, water pump, a/c compressor, power steering pump, idler pulley. Even the accessory drive belt can cause strange noises when its going bad. The noise will change from when in park, or when going down the road.

The hardest part can be locating exactly were its coming from.

good info, ill keep on eye on those, I did a little spraying around the truck especially by this linkage that comes down from the steering shaft under the brake booster, seems to have lessened the noise to just about not at all, before today its been an off and on noise

We have the same turkey gobbling noise on our 2001 Ram 3/4ton V10. WE bought it new in 2000 and it started the same year. Took it to the Dodge dealership 3 times for the same noise. They said it was the steering coupler. Changed it out. The noise eventually came back.
