why can't i find this seal anywhere,

Default why can't i find this seal anywhere,

this rubber seal at the end of my front axle housing where the axle exits. the dealer thinks im stupid, what the heck. on the driver and passenger side they both are out. and when I did my hub assemblies I tried to put them back in place but no go. heres a pic.
NEVERMIND I CAN'T POST A PIC, I ONLY HAVE 2 PICS IN ANOTHER POST AND THAT'S TO MUCH KB SAYS THE FORUM?!?! I am not in the mood for this

For posting pics, set up a photobucket, or imageshack account, then just use the image tags to post the pics. Much less hassle.

Those are just dust shields. You can get the 01 parts manual from the faq section here, and look up the numbers. The seals are actually further into the tubes..... and are a pain to change.

so it's called a excluder seal, are they needed, can I go without. sounds like they didn't use them for only a year or so.

There is some debate on that.... The idea is, they are supposed to keep crap out of the axle tube. Trouble is, they also have a tendency to trap what does get in there.... Several folks just leave them off, and call it a day. I haven't seen any reports of problems from doing so.

That seal that's in the picture is not a seal. That is a debris cover and part of the axle. Then you should have some hard rubber spacers that are installed on the end of the axles. This keeps the axle lined up in the tube so you don't damage the axle seals. If you need the seal part number, they are 4506005 and 4116366 and those are install inside the differential.
