Default Shuts off at65mph =speed shaft sensor?

Im looking to buy an 01 Ram 1500 with the 5.2 auto 4x4. The guy says everything is good except the truck shuts off at 65mph and two different shops said it needs a speed shaft sensor. Does this sound right , or maybe something else ?

No. That's isn't right, and won't fix it. (and I am not entirely sure even what sensor they are referring to....) If the engine just dies, it is going to be the cam, or crank sensor.

Welcome to DF.

If you can make it fail, see whats missing, spark, or fuel. That will tell you which sensor you need to replace.

Do you know if you have any stored codes in the PCM? Because that may give the circuit you are having problems with.

Well got her home. Ran fairly good for 3 hours, then out of the blue it started sputtering and spitting and I thought it was going to cut off. Stopped and shut it off and let it sit for about 20 minutes and did ok for the next hour when I got home. I sure hope the crank sensor will fix the problem because I kinda like this little truck.

I'm curious on this one too. That's one hell of an odd issue to have.

Called the local stealership and the part is 108 bucks , found it on ebay for 58.56 for a mopar part not aftermarket at Rock Bottom Auto Parts . Staying away from the cheap aftermarket stuff per D.F. users recommendations. The stealership guy said he doesn't see a listing for camshaft sensor . Part should be here Monday , Ill post the results . Keeping my fingers crossed on this one.
