towing
Hello to all. Just have a question because I'm kind of curious. I bought a boat over the summer. I have noticed that on my way home from the lake I have to go up the same hill every time. It really isn't to steep of hill but it is long about 2 miles maybe a little less. My boat only weighs about 2300-2400 lbs. I almost have to get a good start to even make it up the hill. I get about half way up and I have to floor the gas pedal but I do not gain any speed. In fact even with the pedal all the way to the floor I start to lose speed. It is a 2 lane road so I can get all the way over to the right. I checked the throttle cable to see maybe if it was stretched but it is not. It has a new catalytic convertor on it and I do regular oil changes and tune ups when it is due. I myself do not think that this is normal but I am just asking for everyone else opinion. I appreciate it and thank you.

I never really payed too much attention about it downshifting. I have replaced the transmission about 3 years ago. I'll keep that in mind about towing not towing in O/D. I have to confess that I rarely ever turn the O/D off except if maybe going just down the street. I will also check the tv cable adjustment. Bare with me if I don't update to soon, probably not until this weekend. I only drive my truck on the weekends and I work 2nd shift+ a lot of hours. Thanks for the input.
I would add checking the plenum this weekend onto your list. It's quick and easy. Take the airhat off, 4 bolts from the throttle body and it's out of the way.
If you see oil pooling you need to fix your plenum.

Definitely check the plenum. If the gasket is blown you're leaking vacuum like crazy which will also cause power loss. My boat and trailer are a tad over 5,000lbs and my 5.2 tows it pretty good.
