Default Hughes Throttle Body issues

Hey ya'll, new member to the forum here, though I have read many old threads to learn as much as possible about my truck. But one thing I havn't been able to find is someone swapping a 1998 throttle body on a 1995 dodge, sounds stupid I know but hear me out lol. so I ordered a stage 1, type 2 (1994-19950 throttle body from hughes engines, but they sent me a type 3 (1996-2001) throttle body and accelerator cable to go with it. the install was easy but with the new throttle body my truck idle is way to high (1000-1300 rpm). I called hughes and they said it has to be a vaccum leak, I checked and there isn't one, could it be a computer issue? any help greatly appreciated, truck has a 5.9l magnum, idle was fine before throttle body swap, used old MAP, IAC and TPS sensor

Reset the PCM before you do anything else. Just disconnect the battery, turn on the headlights for about 30 seconds, turn off headlights, reconnect battery.

Turn key to "On" (not start), count to ten, THEN start the engine. See if it idles any lower.

Also, make sure the throttle cable isn't holding the blades open.

I did disconnect the battery during the install, but never waited 10 seconds before starting the truck ill try that thank you, would the throttle body sensors be different between all the years of the 2nd gen rams? its a shame about the idle minus that the truck goes like hell now haha.

Its my understanding that there are some differences, but, I wouldn't be able to tell you what they are.......

That procedure may, or may not help.... give it a shot, see what happens. Let us know.
