Question Pinion Bearing DIY's?

Just curious if there are any DIY threads for replacing the pinion bearings/seals around here.

I've searched, but so far no luck...

Been having that lovely howling coming from my rear end for far too long now. Seeing as how the weather is finally coming back to somewhat warm conditions, it's time! I have never pulled a rear end/differential completely down, but I know just from reading the FSM that it isn't all that difficult. I guess more so it's the 'special' tools required to correctly do the job.

Thinking I may just go to pull-a-part and grab an entire rear end, rebuild that one, and scrap/sell the original...

So if anyone has any good tips for this job, I welcome any and all.

Its the setup thats the killer. Do it wrong, and you will eat up the rear in pretty short order. I think you can rent the setup tools from your local parts store though. (maybe, they are kinda specialized.....)

FSM is going to be your best walkthru. There might be something out on the web, with pics and such, that will be fairly generic.

Kinda what I figured about the FSM. I'll have to search around to see about the tools. Or what tools I can sub in place.
