Default spark plug heat range

Just have a quick question. I'm going to be changing the spark plugs in my truck in a few weeks and just curious what would be the best ones. I have always been using the original champion plugs. I was wondering if there is a higher heat range that I should go too. Someone told me that a higher heat range will help a little on fuel mileage. I'm also going to be doing a lot of towing this summer will a different/better spark plug help out with that. 1999 dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.9L thanks for any and all input.

I still use Champions. I did relocate my ignition coil to the firewall above the distributor. Got rid of that 20 foot coil wire and all the stray misfires. I use a coil wire from a 4.0L Jeep engine.

Now THERE is an interesting idea. Thank You.

As for hotter plugs, they are also more prone to spark knock.

You would be better off going one heat range lower, such as autolite 3923`s or what ever brand you prefer.

i have ALL WAS found the stock heat range is way to hot. on my 01 dak 3.9 stock, i went to a autolite AR3933 yes it IS a racing plug. have had the plugs for 4 mo. no trouble. but they may not be for you. judge for your self. when experimenting with very wild configurations run just one or two plugs at a time. so you can get home.
