Default Is This Normal, I Not What May Cause It?

I just noticed it about a week ago lol, but never noticed it before because I either always had heat on in winter, or air on or windows down in summer, but with my air off, and windows closed, at anything over 50MPH it seems I can hear air passing through my top vents at the windshield, I hear a slight whirling noise, and it is only at higher MPH.

Earlier in the summer I replaced out my PCV valve and the valves that control which way the air flows through the cabin when adjusting settings, because I noticed at high speeds when I pushed the gas down, the air would for a moment stop flowing through any vents it was set on and blow through the top vents, changing out the 2 valves and the PCV valve stopped that problem.

Is this common? If not what may be causing it? I don't know if this may be causing it, but my air intake on top of the engine one of the back hinges is broke and it sits a little upward maybe like a millimeter off of the filter, but it still latches down.

It's not loud, but its a slight noise like a lower volume sound of if you window was slightly cracked, and air was passing through it, my A/C works flawlessly, my heat works flawlessly, my position controls work flawlessly, so could it be something with the blend door?

It is designed to always have some airflow. Don't want a sealed cabin. Run out of oxygen fairly shortly, faster with more people in the cab.

The vent switching thing is pretty normal for our trucks. We even have a term for it: Wild Vents. You already did the fix for it.

Yea it never hurts to ask lol, so I did >.< even if I look stupid haha. this forum has helped me a lot diagnose a lot of common problems with my truck, and I love this forum for it =D.

I have never really been hands on, but some of these problems I took on myself to save myself a crap ton of labor lol. Like the tail gate handle, took it out and looked at it today, it's shot, but still opens, gonna replace it soon.

I am going to fix my upper door hinge pin and door limiter, just found out that the upper pin itself needs changed, it spins in the hinge, so I just hope the hole hasn't gotten bigger and a hinge wont sit right.

But so far since i've gotten this truck, this forum has helped me with diagnosing and fixing these problems myself:

1. Leaky 3rd brake light due to completely worn seal, thought it may be the slider window, nope =).

2. Intermittent A/C clutch issues, remove a shim and clean off the inside and back of the clutch to get rid of rust and dirt buildup.

3. Those annoying (wild vent) replace valves.

4. Help on how to adjust headllights.

Those are just the top 4 off the top of my head lol, this forum is really helpful =).

Hey man, the only stupid question is one that you didn't ask, and don't know the answer to.

There are bushings that also get replaced when you change the hinge pins. Unless yours are REALLY bad... should help quite a bit. The pins do indeed just float in the hinge though.

Okay I am so confused, I don't think it's the pins I need, what exactly I looking for? The pins themselves are good to go, but the pin that attaches the thing to the inside of the door that limits how far it can swing open, that pin and the bushing inside of the stopper thing are shot, it looks thinner than regular hinges and looks like it needs cut off to replace, what do I need lol? Is it a trip to a dodge dealer part?

Sorry just realized this was the wrong thread.

Nope, those parts don't come in the pin/bushing kit. Time for a new hinge.

So wait, to replace those circled in red in this picture i'm going to need a whole new hinge? That sucks...lol.

I can get this kit at Autozone and it does look to be the right part(s) I need, but is it? It is for Dodges:

http://www.dormanproducts.com/itemdetail.aspx?ProductID=51465&SEName=38403

Also on that site for the info on the 2000 Dodge Ram is says (tapered Pin) what does that mean? And since the ones in the truck are stock, will it need cut off?

It does look right...... but, I am not sure if that pin is for the pivot, or, for the roller it rides on on the other end..... I tried to find the kit I have, but, it seems to be MIA.....

That one really doesn't look that bad...... does it really need to be replaced?

That's not a picture of mine lol, I found it from another thread, on mine the bushing inside the arm is completely shot, and the pin it goes through freely spins. I know I can get the parts for it from LMC trucks, but the set they offer looks vaguely similar to the ones I linked to.

Oh. That explains a lot.

It's worth a shot at least...... I suspect that the bushing for the little arm there is going to be pressed in though.... (can prolly tap it in with just a hammer.) Wish I could find my kit..... then I could give you a better answer.
