Default Is my TV cable arm upside down?

My truck has been real hesitant to shift into and move in reverse. Could this be related to a miss adjusted TV Cable?

Where can I get a new TV cable? Mine is frayed.

Also is the actuating arm on the tranny upside down? I have seen images online of it in the opposite orientation. I had to move the spring further out to get enough tension to move the arm.

I fliped it over anyway. Still a lot of binding due to the frayed cable. No improvement in reverse.

Probably most parts stores would have new tv cable, which is going to affect 1-2 ND 2-3 Shift points. Could look into adjusting bands. How is fluid level?

Parts stores dont have a clue. I found a few places online, they run about $65.

As for reverse, fluid was a quart low. I toped it off and the problem is still present. D, 2, 1 all shift fine and pull strong. When I shift to reverse, it feels like it hesitates to engage. Then I have to run the engine up to 1500 ish rpms and the truck will slowly start to creep after 20-30 seconds. Then it will gradually speed up.

I bet the rear band is toast. If you put it in manual low, will it move?

Try a rear band adjustment.

I blew reverse, did the adjustment (several months later), and reverse still works great to this day, been a year and change...
