heater and headlight problem

Default heater and headlight problem

Need help


I have a 99 1500 4x4 5.2. my problem is I turn on my heater and it works fine but when I turn on my headlights my heater goes off like its not getting power. Then can turn my lights back off and the heater comes back on any idea what it is. It just started about a month ago.

Sounds like a short.

I'd start by checking the wiring behind the headlight switch and heater controls to see if there is anything noticeable.

The headlight switches do have a tendency to go bad too. I don't know if it would have any affect on the heater or not though.

Two separate system. They don't share so much as a fuse. What does your alternator output look like when you turn on the headlights?
