Dang Nab sorry didn't mean to hijack someone else's thread.

So a 44RE is about 4" shorter than a 46RE transmission? That just tickles my tosh out the door...............................Dang nab drive shafts cost me $1,100 for the two of them now I wonder what it'll cost to shorten and lengthen them.

Rams have a 5.2 and that tranny goes behind it in my 1999 dodge durango so if you were to look for 5.2 ram we could probably get that drive shaft bolted right in , anybody disagree ? Please correct me if i am wrong ..

In the late '70s I put a 289 in my '50 F1. Didn't have a mig welder at the time, but I did my own driveshaft work with a hacksaw and a gas welder. Everything worked out fine, no vibration or u-joint problems for as long as I drove that truck. You probably don't want to try something like that, but it worked for me. Maybe swap shafts with Jr&.

In the rams the 5.2 had a 46re behind it too.
