I just ordered this same water pump for my truck, as well as a timing chain/gear set from rock auto.

I really wanted to do the timing chain also, I know it will be a lot more work but I just can't have my truck down for any more than a day, I plan to take the cover off to reseal it, it leaks anyways, I'm gonna look at the chain and see how bad it really is, then I'll just have to open it all back up this summer to do the chain and gears, I don't have the extra 70 or so bucks to do it right now

It only adds another hour or so to the job, and if you are taking the cover off anyway, you are only looking at an additional 50 bucks for the parts. Do yourself a favor, do it while you are already RIGHT there.

You're convincing me, hopefully the old water pump holds up another week, I have to get the right two jaw puller to get the balancer off I will check into timing sets

I just ordered a Cloyes C3028X timing set from rock auto for $40.79 plus shipping. They always seem to have just about everything needed for our trucks, and good service also.

is there anything wrong in going with a stock replacement, i know everyone screams double rollers but to me, 100k out of a timing chain, even a double roller, is pretty good

The double roller is less prone to stretching. Once you see the stock unit, and how bad it is, you will have a much better idea of why your engine is down on power. The double roller fellers are a bit more accurate, and will last quite a bit longer before being stretched to the point your stock unit is. It's a cheap upgrade, I can't see any reason NOT to do it.

I just got the water pump and double roller timing chain I ordered from rock auto. The water pump and timing chain are good quality replacement parts and worth buying. I have never seen the stock timing chain on a dodge engine, but I have on other engines, and there total junk. So do your self a favor and get the double roller timing chain, its worth it.
