Water pump is going out on my 98, I ordered the water pump that has the threaded hole for the heater hose off of rock auto, that was the only one I could get ahold of off of rock auto, that little heater hose has given me so many problems and has leaked forever, i just want to know if anybody knows what kind of fitting I need to get to make the hose connect to the pump, I am aware that I will most likely have to lengthen the hose, does any one know the size of that hole? Is it normal pipe thread? All replies are appreciated greatly
The old water pump does not have a threaded hole but the new one does, the old one is just the metal tube with the o ring seal there is no fitting in the old water pump
Two different holes. The metal tube with the o-ring is for the heater return line. Threaded hole is for the bypass hose between the pump, and the intake. If that isn't the case on your new pump, you got the wrong pump.
The pic appears to be upside down, but, yeah, that's the right pump. Fitting already appears to be in the threaded hole. Should bolt right up. I use sealant on them anyway, as I don't like doing a job twice.
If you have close to, or over... 100k miles on your truck, you should do the timing chain and gears as well. It's about another 70 bucks for the timing set/gaskets..... and it was a MAJOR improvement on how my truck ran. You are only about six or eight bolts away once the w/p is out of the way.
