Default Is there a fusible link on the flasher circuit?

I shorted my flashers out. I wired up some new lights on my bumper wrong & it smoked the flasher relay. It did not blow any fuses that I can find. Not in the fuse panel, or in the one under the hood. I spliced into the existing wires going to the flasher bulbs for the new lights. I disconnected the lights I put on & still no turn signals or hazard flashers & I did put in a new relay. I checked the turn signal switch per the manual and everything has continuity when it is supposed to. I think that I am missing something somewhere & was wondering if there is a fusible link in that circuit anywhere?

I have searched quite a bit & havent found anything on this subject. It seems to usually be the multifunction switch or the flasher relay. I am quite surprised that I didnt blow a fuse. With a new relay in there, I get nothing when i hit the turn signal or hazard switch. I am not really sure of the pinouts on the flasher relay, or how to check that thing either.

I had some flashing only lights on my front bumper. The lenses were broken and of course they have changed the style of them. So, when I put the new one on, I screwed it up. I put the hot from the flasher directly to ground on the bumper. Now I am stumped. Parking lights work, brake lights work. Just not anything to do with the relay circuit.

Anyone have any idea how I can chase this problem down? I am not really sure if I have something open what. If it was shorted, I would think it would be blowing a fuse, but I would have thought it would have blown a fuse in the first place.

I would appreciate any tips, as I am kinda stumped.

Grab the 01 service manual from the Service Manual thread in the FAQ section here. Wiring diagrams are in there.

Check Fuse 4 in the power distribution center. (under the hood) and fuse 10 in the fuse block on the side of the dash.

Hey Thanks. The downloaded repair manual is way better than my Haynes book. I gives me a good method to hunt down the problem. I think that is going to be a big help. All of my fuses are good, I bet something is open there somewhere. I think I will be able to track it down with that guide

I will post the results when I get it checked out!

I got it figured out! It was a fuse in the PDC! I was looking at the diagram on the inside of the cover wrong. I had previously checked all of the small typical automotive fuses. The one that feeds the flashing circuit was the different style engine compartment fuses. I was working from the wrong end of the diagram on the inside cover. I did use the troubleshooting guide in the 2001 service manual and it was really helpful.

HeyYou, Thanks for your help !

Awesome. No more sticking your arm out the window to signal turns!
