You are right. No check engine light. Never got around to that. Lol.
If the coil driver was fried, would it spark at all? My guess would be no.
I had to call a shop. I hate to do it, being as I know my truck better than anyone. All my tools are packed up, I have no garage to work on it, its dumping rain and snow, and I'm in a motel parking lot in Butte, Montana, where I don't know a single soul.

Too bad you're up in Montana. I hate the feeling of having someone else work on a vehicle, especially a customized one.

Buddy had around the same problem with his 318. It would stay running just kept dying. It'd stay running if you kept on the gas but.
I told him to turn the key all the way on(dash lights up) then all the way back off. And do that 3 times. And on the 4turn start it and it stayed running. Don't know if it's work but
